Classic Albums Live 2019-20

Classic Album Live Series

Classic Albums Live returns to the Avalon with another round of live stage reproductions of three landmark rock albums that continue to stand the test of time:

The Doors – LA Woman
November 22, 2019
Doors: 7:30 p.m.; Show: 8 p.m.
Avalon Theatre  $40
Easton, MD

The sixth studio album by the Doors, released on April 19, 1971, was also their last to feature lead singer Jim Morrison. Featuring hits like “Love Her Madly” and “Riders on the Storm”, critics have praised “L.A. Woman” as one of the Doors’ best albums, citing Morrison's vocal performance and the band's stripped-down return to their blues rock roots.

David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust
January 25, 2020
Doors: 7:30 p.m.; Show: 8 p.m.
Avalon Theatre  $40
Easton, MD

Described as a loose concept album, “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” is about Bowie's titular alter ego Ziggy Stardust, a rock star who acts as a messenger for extraterrestrial beings. Released in 1972, the album peaked at number five on the UK Albums Chart and number 75 in the US Billboard Top LPs and Tape chart.

Tom Petty – Damn The Torpedoes
April 30, 2020 -
Doors: 7:30 p.m.; Show: 8 p.m.
Avalon Theatre  $40
Easton, MD

“Damn The Torpedoes” was a breakthrough for Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1979. It was their first top 10 album rising to #2 on the Billboard albums chart. Singles “Don’t Do Me Like That” and “Refugee” reached #10 and #15, respectively. The Village Voice wrote, "This is a breakthrough for Petty because for the first time the Heartbreakers ... are rocking as powerfully as he's writing.”
