Chesapeake 9

Chesapeake 9
Songwriter Showcase/Competition
POSTPONED TO A DATE TBD
Stoltz Listening Room
Are you an undiscovered songwriter looking for your moment to shine?
Chesapeake 9, a new local music competition, was created by Max Fisher and Jimmy Maguire to serve the songwriting community of the Eastern Shore.
Max Fisher, currently head of development for the artist Greya, is winner of a 2011 ASCAP Writers Award and an official writer for Salinger. He’s worked with 22-time Grammy-nominated artist India Arie for the past 10 years in various capacities, and is currently producing her upcoming record.
Jimmy Maguire is a guitarist who has toured in the U.S. and U.K., a recording engineer, and head of Modern Tape Studios. In addition to engineering India Arie’s upcoming record, he engineers at White Star Sound and out of his private studio in Easton
Here’s how Chesapeake 9 works:
Four times over the next year, nine songwriters of all ages and genres will be chosen to perform (or have performed) two original songs no longer than four minutes each in front of an audience and a small panel of music industry professionals in the Avalon Theatre’s Stoltz Listening Room.
The winner of each event will then get to have their own show in the Stoltz, with the winner of these four shows awarded an opening slot for an upcoming show determined by the Avalon Theatre. This composer will also receive the 2019 Chesapeake 9 Songwriter’s Award and a two-hour songwriting/music business session with Max Fisher!
To be considered for Chesapeake 9, composers are invited to submit original videotaped material to Max Fisher at maxfishermusic@gmail.com. Submission deadline is November 5th.
Tickets to the final event set for November 18th at 3 p.m. are on sale now. Limited seating available.
