accompanied by special guest, Clara Delfina
Wednesday, November, 14, 2018
Doors: 6:30 p.m.; Show: 7 p.m.
Stoltz Listening Room $25
Come welcome a pair of performers who've both toured nationally and internationally in various configurations, but have never appeared on the Eastern Shore.
Ken Waldman combines Appalachian-style string-band music, original poetry, and Alaska-set storytelling for a performance uniquely his. He has eleven books, nine CDs, and since 1995 has appeared at the widest range of concert series, festivals, and clubs, from the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage to the Woodford Folk Festival in Queensland, Australia. Reviewers have compared his stage show to John Hartford and Garrison Keillor.
Clara Delfina plays fiddle, banjo, guitar, write songs, and sings. Originally from Northern California, she recently moved to Washington, D.C., where she fronts Clara & The Broken Barrel String Band, and continues to tour in a variety of settings, with a variety of band mates.
The Denver Post has called Ken Waldman's shows “Renegade Americana” and, according to The Austin Chronicle, his appearances are “Like a Ken Burns movie . . . Always recommended.” Together, Ken Waldman and Clara Delfina promise an evening of music that's not only fun and inspiring--from raucous twin fiddles to smart originals--but also a soundtrack to a surprise journey from Talbot County to The Real Alaska. By the end they'll bring you back home where you may just be ready to plan a trip north for real.
