Jenn Grinels
Saturday, April 20, 2019
Doors: 7:30 p.m.; Show: 8 p.m.
Avalon Theatre $25
Just announced! Risa Binder will be the opener for this show!
“Grinels began to play and sing and the whole room stopped breathing. She has a dazzling voice, Chrissie Hynde’s mojo, Rickie Lee Jones’ feel for the jazz in the spaces between notes and an unfailing sense of the dynamics called for in each moment...words fell from her mouth like gems.” - The Southeast Missourian
Fans of Eva Cassidy, Van Morrison, Brandi Carlile and just plain good singing will want to see Jenn when she returns to the Avalon stage to perform music from her upcoming studio album (which was bolstered by the incredible support of her fans and a highly successful crowd-funding campaign, raising nearly $55,000 in less than 4 weeks).
The Nashville based singer/songwriter has spent the last ten years cultivating a grassroots fan base, performing all over the world, headlining shows from Denver to Dublin and everywhere in between, as well as supporting artists like Marc Broussard, Edwin McCain and the 10,000 Maniacs, even prompting San Francisco Examiner reviewer Kenneth Fish to write:
“Grinels steals the show. She is a rock-and-roll temptress conjuring musical spells that no one could resist. Whether quietly purring into the microphone or seriously belting out a tune, the audience was hanging on every note and lapping up every well-crafted phrase. (She) has the rare gift of being a well-rounded performer who engages the audience fully and openly, sharing the performer as much as the performance. And her performance was nothing short of amazing.”
