David Mayfield, who has performed with The Avett Brothers and Mumford & Sons, as well as at Bonnaroo, is a singer-songwriter, bandleader, and Grammy-nominated producer with a reputation for colorful performances.
Known for his work in both bluegrass and indie rock, Mayfield grew up playing bass and touring with his family’s bluegrass band. He established himself as a hot picker in his teens, collecting national awards for his dexterity on guitar and mandolin.
A Mountain Stage veteran, Mayfield has appeared as a member of Cadillac Sky and Among the Oak and Ash, as well as alongside his sister, singer Jessica Lea Mayfield.
