The Kingston Trio2013

Friday, March 22, 2013
Doors: 7:30 pm; Show: 8:00 pm
Avalon Theatre $40

In 1957 The Kingston Trio emerged from San Francisco’s North Beach club scene to take the country by storm, bringing the rich tradition of American folk music into the mainstream for the first time.

Beginning with the release of their classic hit recording “Tom Dooley,” the Grammy-winning Trio went on to release 19 albums that made Billboard’s Top 100 (with 14 of them hitting the Top 10 and five reaching number 1), while producing enduring favorites like “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and “Where Have all the Flowers Gone.”

If you’re a fan of folk, folk rock, and Americana music, these guys paved the way for all your favorite acts!

“In the history of popular music, there are a relative handful of performers who have redefined the content of the music at critical points in history— people whose music left the landscape, and definition of popular music, altered completely. The Kingston Trio were one such group…”.

The group consists of George Grove, Bill Zorn, Rick Dougherty and Paul Gabrielson.
