JazzTimes Magizine has proclaimed pianist Fred Hughes work as talent, technique and taste. AllAboutJazz.com said, Hughes is anything but shy in his approach to the piano. He has the technical ability, the deftness of touch, and full control of the instrument in the manner laid down by such keyboard giants as Art Tatum, Errol Garner and Oscar Peterson.
Come out and experience his dazzling style for yourself when Fred returns to the Avalon with his trio and special guests Amy Shook and Frank Russo as they pay tribute to the music of some of the greatest names in the history of jazz piano, including Art Tatum, Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Dave Brubeck, Erroll Garner, Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver, and Oscar Peterson.
Hughes, who relocated to the Easton area several years ago, has enjoyed a rich and varied career. He has released numerous albums as a band leader, performed at many of the great jazz festivals (like Newport Jazz), and has worked with jazz artists like Arturo Sandoval, Toots Thielemans, and Roy Hargrove.
