John Moreland started writing songs when he was 10 years old, the same year his family moved from Kentucky to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he still lives today...and he's only improved with time.
Although Moreland began his music career back in high school fronting local punk and hardcore bands, he says that after graduation he felt that this scene no longer did anything for him. The remedy? He ditched the new music for his dad?s classics: CCR, Neil Young, Tom Petty, and Steve Earle, to name a few.
And now, with his songs featured on the FX series Sons of Anarchy and three acclaimed albums to his name, Moreland is establishing himself as one of Americana?s rawest, most authentic talents.
?John Moreland?s insight on (his newest album High on Tulsa Heat) is not something that you find in music much anymore. The lyrics paint vivid, wonderful imagery, and Moreland puts himself and the listener in the center of each story in a natural way.? Countryperspective.com
