Lucy Woodward Trio

Thursday, March 1, 2012 8 p.m. $25

As the child of a composer/conductor father and an opera singer/musicologist/teacher/belly dancer mother, Lucy Woodward was destined for a life of music. She was born in London, spent part of her early childhood in Amsterdam, and grew up in the cultural melting pot of the Bronx, where she absorbed a range of musical styles, from salsa to house music. This eclectic world background, combined with her musical training in voice, piano, and flute, contributed to the success of her debut album While You Can with its infectious hit “Dumb Girls.” She’s performed on The Tonight Show, released two more CDs, earned a BMI Songwriter’s Award, served as a guest judge on American Idol, and contributed songs to several soundtracks, including the Sandra Bullock hit movie The Blind Side. Join us in the Stoltz Listening Room with this talented songstress!
